One of the good things I accomplished during the spring break this year was doing a Nowruz ( Persian New Year) and New Spring presentation at Arah's school. Kids loved listening to Amoo Norooz, Zahhak, and Jamshid shah's story and smelling the fresh hyacinth flowers I had brought. They even took a crash farsi lesson and named the seven elements of Persian new year celebration table. They were fascinated with looking at pictures of Iranians celebrating Nowruz, dressing up in colorful clothing and picnicing outside on the 13th day of the New Year. Arah of course showed off her favorite traditional dress to her classmates and was so thrilled to have her mommy tell stories to her class. At one moment I had to reach to keep her from washing the Seeb(apple) in the Serkeh( viniger) but other than that she was a pretty good assistant! Kids even got a party favor from our family with a butterfly card at the end and overall it was a memorable day at Arah's school that day.
Happy Spring and New Year 1391!
