Fall farm funday!

we got a lot done this weekend so far as it was the fall break for us with a little more peace of mind to partake a  few more family events than usual.  We started the Friday night with professors' night to which I was invited by and represented one of my inspiring students in  women's volley ball team for the CSM vs Fort Lewis college game and Mehdi and Arah joined me a little later too.  It was a straight 3 easy winning sets for CSM so we had a short and sweet victory.  It was nice to see these girls not only breaking the socieal streotypes but also making a difference!  Arah was cheering and clapping for the girls the entire time in her first live sporting game we were so proud of her! Then on Saturday we went to a pumpkin patch as our annual fall family tradition as a part of a group with Arah's pre-school.  There were car-races, barrel trains, go carts, panning for gold/gems, corn maze, and tractor ride to see the buffalo and bulls and a stop at the  patch to pick out this year's pumpkins.  we got to feed the cows 'cow candy', visit the haunted house, eat our harvest time caramel apple, and select a few pumpkins to take home straight from the farm!  This was special because Arah could walk to the field all by herself for the first time and even found her own favorite pumpkin.

We then drove to down town Louisville to grab lunch at a local and old fashioned diner which grows their
own vegetables in their own back yard and serves grass fed beef for their menu which I think is a big deal and step in the right direction on many levels. From that point things went loose with no particular schedule or to do list and stopped for a chat, great cup of coffee and a little confectionery treat at our favorite and newly expanded coffee-shop run by our good friends at 'Bitter-sweet' a few blocks away. We also dared to watch the 'dolphine tale' movie upon Mehdi's request as a second chance to watch a movie with Arah but that plan didn't go very well as we had almost expected as Arah was quiet this time but needing to cross the rows of seats so we had to leave this time too but got a re-admission ticket pass. But not complaining after all with such a productive weekend all-together. Perhaps next time we shall try when Arah is less tired and more rested!

The quintessential beauty of our state simply amazes me.  I feel blessed to live here, blessed to be alive to experience it, and blessed to have these two people to share it with.  It was a pleasant October day in Erie, Colorado with temps in mid 80's and no wind.

time to carry the harvest and the helper back to the car!
can you spot my little dare-devil in the barrel train?
She wanted to go all by herself

and stayed in there happily for the entire 5 minutes of the ride( which sounded like 25 minutes to me)
