Memorial Day 2012

I invited my mom and sister  from Arizona and our old college friends who came from Louisiana  to Vail for the memorial weekend.  We rented a 3 bedroom  condo in a resort in Avon, 6 minutes west of Vail.  the condo was quite spacious and modern and overlooked the beautiful green Beaver Creek mountains which were sort of in disguise behind a thin layer of hazy fog when we arrived creating an almost a surreal and dreamy scene  and reminiscence of southern Caspian sea shore for us.

We set up a pseudo corn on the cob bbq since the grill in the balcony was actually not heating up enough.  Good thing we went grociery shopping right after we arrived and had plenty to make turkey sandwiches! then we all curled up under blankets on the couch and watched a rental movie till midnight and then all crashed.

The weather was clear, sunny, and in the 40's while we had 70+ temps in Denver.  The cherry trees just had started blooming and the spring had just sprung there in late May!

I once described the scene through the car widows ' moving postal card'.  The Aspen trees with their 'eyes' on the body are a great metaphor of 'Fereydoun Moshiri's' poem 'Koucheh' when he said ' My entire body became all eyes searching for you gazingly!'

                                                              Lunch at the Italian Vendetta's...yum

at the Red Rocks amphi-theatre, Morrison on our way home

We love Vail Village and all of our majestic Rockies and can't wait to be back again when the highs are above 40's F and the gondolas run up the mountains and marvel at horseback and bike riding, rafting and all the great outdoor fun colorful Colorado has to offer!
